A new article written by Employment Partner Stefan Nerinckx has just been published in Forum, the legal journal of the prestigious European Academy of Law, focussing on the employment law aspects of the new collaborative/plaform economy.

This article explores new collaborative models and how they are influencing existing businesses. The most visible examples of the collaborative/platform economy involve renting apartments, sharing cars (TNC) and the delivery of goods and services. Surveys reveal significant economic potential within the collaborative economy but also a large degree of uncertainty regarding rights and obligations (liabilities, protection of customers, regulatory framework, tax and social security treatment of the income derived, employment status, ...).

The article tries to give some suggestions on how to tackle the employment law issues from an EU perspective.
