London International Disputes Week (LIDW) 2026 is fast approaching, and we are pleased to share this timely panel discussion examining the current state and future direction of UK collective actions, set against the backdrop of a number of significant recent developments.
Following the landmark Kent v Apple judgment, the settlement of Merricks v Mastercard, and the Competition Appeal Tribunal's decision in Gutmann v South Western Trains, the collective actions landscape in the UK continues to evolve at pace. This LIDW Next Gen panel will bring together leading lawyers and economists to consider what now and where next for UK collective actions, taking a structured, end‑to‑end look at the collective action process.
The discussion will be organised around five key stages of the collective actions process, with one lawyer and one economist providing their perspective at each stage:
- Funding a claim – Luke Horton Grimes & Marzena Meeson
- Certification – Jonathan Amior & Edmond Lee
- Disclosure – Kotryna Drasutyte & Naomi Reid
- Liability – Edan Miles & Hadley Howe Zielonka
- Quantum / pass‑on – Alexandra Holroyd & Robert Scherf
