Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer is pleased to announce the promotion of two lawyers from its global arbitration practice to Of Counsel, with effect from 1 May 2026. Both based in Hong Kong, the new Of Counsel are:
Tiffany Chan has been with Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer since 2013. During her time at the firm she has completed three separate six-month secondments with Goldman Sachs' legal teams in Hong Kong. Tiffany advises on complex cross‑border commercial disputes across a wide range of sectors, including disputes arising out of put options, joint ventures, shareholder and boardroom issues, mis‑selling and post‑M&A matters, as well as wire fraud cases. She has acted in arbitration proceedings seated in numerous jurisdictions under a range of leading institutional rules, including ICC, HKIAC and SIAC, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules. Tiffany also has extensive experience advising on arbitration‑related court applications and commercial litigation. She is qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong, and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Lillian Li joined Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer's Hong Kong arbitration practice in February 2025 from Quinn Emanuel, having previously practised at Hogan Lovells. She has acted in disputes under both civil and common law systems, including arbitrations seated in Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Seoul, Zurich and Paris. Lillian has represented investors and sovereign States in high‑profile treaty disputes, and has acted for private equity firms, high‑net‑worth individuals and cryptocurrency exchanges in multibillion‑dollar shareholder, post‑M&A and commercial disputes. Her current matters include representing a venture capital fund that is seeking to exit its investment from a Chinese company and recoup its US$1.2 billion investment, and acting for an Asian investor seeking compensation from a European State under a bilateral investment treaty. Prior to joining the firm, Lillian served as a Judicial Assistant at the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal and as a Judicial Clerk to the Vice‑President of the European Court of Human Rights. She also worked with the United Nations Committee against Torture. Lilian is admitted to practise in Hong Kong and New York.
