The Construction industry is fortunate to have numerous stakeholders committed to safety ranging from Craft Unions and groups such as CPWR to Industry Associations such as the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America. Included in that group are Insurers and their Brokers.

The alliance between Willis Towers Watson and the AGC has resulted in one of the Country’s most rigorous Business safety competitions, the AGC-Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA). Visit the site to view past winners. An incredible additional benefit of the competition is the annual publication of the Safety Management Best Practices gleaned from the competing companies’ submissions.

We have linked to the 44-page 2019 Best Practices.

For 2019 there are 447 construction safety best management practices and ideas to share with the construction industry.

From the sponsors:

The AGC and Willis Towers Watson believe that good risk control and safety practices are not proprietary. Please feel free to share this document with other contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, owners, and other industry partners that can influence our industry, so every worker returns home safely to their family.

In the judging process the five Finalist Judges look at eight (8) categories:

  • Senior management ownership and participation
  • Risk identification and analysis
  • Task design — Engineering controls for safety
  • Safe work methods
  • Worker engagement, involvement and participation
  • Safety training and validation of training
  • Subcontractor management
  • Emergency and crisis management

If you are interested in participating in the 2020 CSEA competition, applications will be accepted between October 1 and December 13, 2019.

Information can also be found on the CSEA website.

Final judging and award winners will be honored during the 2020 AGC Annual Convention in Las Vegas, NV.
