The CFTC granted a whistleblower award of $70,000 to an individual residing in a foreign country who provided information on CEA violations that was instrumental to an investigation that ultimately led to a settlement. This is the first award given by the CFTC to a whistleblower residing in a foreign country. In addition, it is the second award made by the CFTC under the newly enhanced whistleblower rules, which modified the process for reviewing claims and strengthened anti-retaliation protections.
