The SEC adopted an interim final temporary rule (new Securities Exchange Act Rule 608T) that extends the date by which the SEC is required to act on the proposed National Market System ("NMS") Plan Governing the Consolidated Audit Trail (the "CAT NMS Plan" or "Plan"). The new date is November 15, 2016. The SEC explained that the extension "will not unduly delay action on the CAT NMS Plan and will allow adequate time for [the SEC] to complete its careful consideration of comment letters and Supplemental Letters, including the recommended amendments to the CAT NMS Plan."
