During UNC Law' s Banking Institute, held March 25–27, 2026 at the Ritz-Carlton, UNC's Center for Banking and Finance presented Ed O'Keefe with its Leadership Award, recognizing his long-standing leadership, service, and commitment to the Center.
Ed has been a long-time member and de facto leader of the Center's Board of Advisors, where he has played an instrumental role in guiding the Center's strategic direction and supporting its continued growth. Known for his thoughtful counsel and steady leadership, Ed has been a trusted advisor to Center leadership and a consistent champion of its mission.
Established in 2004, the Leadership Award honors individuals who exemplify exceptional service and leadership within the banking and finance community. Ed is only the eighth recipient of this distinguished honor, reflecting the lasting impact of his contributions to the Center and its work.
Burton Craige Distinguished Professor Lissa Broome, the Director of UNC Law's Center for Banking and Finance, presented the award during The Banking Institute, which convenes banking and finance leaders from across the nation for dialogue on current issues, trends, and opportunities shaping the industry. Ed's recognition marked a highlight of this year's program.
