Shareholder Amanda Cefalu was a featured speaker at the Minnesota Construction Summit in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 19. In her presentation, "Union Fringe Benefit Funds," she provided an overview of the duties, benefits and decisions made by trustees on union Taft-Hartley Funds.
Cefalu focused on fiduciary duties and the legal obligations in which a fund operates and affects its decision-making, as well as understanding how to avoid ERISA law penalties from unintended mistakes.
Cefalu is a shareholder in Reinhart's Employee Benefits and Litigation practices, handling ERISA litigation and counseling, Taft-Hartley issues, employment law and commercial litigation. She represents and counsels both employers and clients in discrimination claims, retaliation, sexual harassment, FMLA, wrongful discharge and non-compete claims, among others.
