Tellabs To Buy Advanced Fibre For $1.9 Billion

Tellabs Inc., a maker of fiber-optic network equipment, agreed to buy Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. for $1.9 billion in cash and stock to become a supplier of equipment for services such as Internet access.

Tellabs Inc., a maker of fiber-optic network equipment, agreed to buy Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. for $1.9 billion in cash and stock to become a supplier of equipment for services such as Internet access. San Francisco partner Blair White led a Pillsbury Winthrop team that represented Advanced Fibre in this high-profile deal. Advanced Fibre gives Tellabs a line of access equipment, which transports voice, video and Internet services from a phone company's network into homes and businesses.
