In a bid to increase tourism in India which has seen a boost since the introduction of eTVs, which are electronic visas that allow foreign nationals to travel to India for tourism, business pilgrimages, casual business and short-term medical treatment. An eTV may currently be used for two trips in a calendar year and allows for a maximum of 30 days on each trip. The Indian government is considering an extension of stay on this visa from 30 days to 60 days. It appears that the government is also considering extending the use of this visa for longer medical treatments. If implemented, these will be welcome changes.
