On 14 April 2010, STAU issued Letter No. 7394/7/22-5017 on certificates of tax paid by non-residents to repatriate investments. STAU concludes that, to buy foreign currency for investment repatriation purposes (for example, the sale of corporate rights), a non-resident must provide the bank with a certificate from the tax authorities of tax paid in Ukraine, including in cases when such funds are exempt from taxation in Ukraine under the relevant double tax treaty.
