May 25, 2017 – Ontario immigration has announced the intake limit has been reached for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program's PhD Graduate Stream.

Applications will no longer be accepted after the threshold was reached on May 24, 2017. The stream had been open since May 1, 2017, an unusually long time for an OINP category.

It is unclear whether the category will be opened again in 2017. An Ontario immigration statement said: "The OINP is monitoring the intake of applications with respect to the limits of Ontario's federal nomination allocation, and will determine if any more applications can be accepted for this stream in the months ahead."
