October 19th, 2016 – Today the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 1,804 candidates to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada through Express Entry. This was a jump of 286 invitations from the last round. The lowest qualifying score decreased significantly to 475 points from 484 in the last round, allowing for more candidates to qualify.
We note that there is an increase in the number of applications selected as well as a lowering of the points required to be given an invitation to apply. We hope that this trend continues.

Express Entry uses a comprehensive scoring system to rank prospective immigrants to Canada. Candidates are awarded up to 600 points based on a variety of factors meant to assess their ability to succeed in Canada, including age, language skill, education and work experience. An additional 600 points are awarded for holding a valid job offer supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or a provincial or territorial nomination.
