Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) launched a public consultation for the proposed bid notice for authorization of use of radiofrequencies in the 1.8 GHz, 1.9 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands, which are used for provision of mobile (4G) and fixed broadband services through licenses of Personal Mobile Services (SMP), Multimedia Communication Services (SCM) and Private Limited Services (SLP).

The bid is scheduled for October 2015 and should particularly benefit small providers of internet access and large entrant operators. Pursuant to the bid notice, participation of foreign companies and consortia is permitted. Licenses will be effective for a term of fifteen (15) years, extendable only once for the same period.

Contributions to ANATEL's public consultation must be submitted by September 2, 2015, preferably through the electronic form available in the Interactive Public Consultation Follow-up System ( Sistema Interativo de Acompanhamento de Consulta Pública, SACP), by fax, by letter to ANATEL in Brasília, or by e-mail to biblioteca@anatel.gov.br.
