The SEC named Melissa Hodgman as Division of Enforcement (the "Division") Acting Director. Ms. Hodgman was previously an Associate Director in the Division, handling cases covering a spectrum of securities law violations and overseeing the Division's COVID-19 Steering Committee and its Financial Reporting and Audit Group. Ms. Hodgman first joined the SEC in 2008 as a staff attorney in the Division.

Commentary

The appointment of Ms. Hodgman as Acting Director of Enforcement makes sense for Acting Chair Allison Herren Lee. Acting Director Hodgman has more than a decade of experience in various leadership positions in the Division of Enforcement and is regarded as a knowledgeable lawyer and an aggressive investigator.
