Following the standoff between the federal government and Apple, the District Attorney of Manhattan has also claimed that he would be seeking court orders against the company to authorize the search of devices that are inaccessible due to security features.

Some expect that Apple's failure to comply with the court orders may go all the way to the Supreme Court.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this would be a showdown which could reach the highest levels of our courts," said Fox Rothschild's Matthew Adams.
