The news for clean tech vehicle pioneer Tesla Motors continues to be good.  Two widely read motoring journals – Motor Trend and Automobile – named the Tesla S luxury sedan as their car of the year.  That is a great big deal in the auto press arena.  Indeed, the road testing and write ups on the S make it sound like a terrific car regardless of its drive train. As this blog has said before, the S is a good looking car.  The combination of good performance and looks may be the key combination to electric vehicle success.  It seems like customers may be willing to pay a price penalty so long as an electric vehicle delivers on other scores.

The bigger news maybe a bit less splashy – Bloomberg and others are reporting that Tesla's CEO and founder, Elon Musk, has announced that the company is now "narrowly cash positive."  This is a rare event for a clean tech company and a first for an electric automobile.  The reports also say that Tesla has increased production of the S model.

Will Elon Musk change America's roads and economy?
