U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated its prior announcement to extend the temporary closure of its offices to the public from March 18, 2020, until at least May 3, 2020.
What Happened?
Effective March 18, USCIS is suspending in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices, and Application Support Centers (ASCs) in response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The suspension is temporary and will be effective until at least May 3. During this time, USCIS will provide limited emergency services and requests calling the USCIS Contact Center for assistance.
Who Does This Impact?
- All applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies. In response, USCIS will send notices to those impacted by the closure.
- Asylum interviews. In response, USCIS will send interview cancellation notices and automatically reschedule the interviews. Asylum applicants will receive new interview notices with the new time, date, and location of the interview.
- Application Support Center appointments. In response, USCIS will automatically reschedule ASC appointments once normal operations resume. New appointment letters will be sent in the mail. Please note that individuals who had InfoPass or other appointments must reschedule through the USCIS Contact Center once field offices are open to the public again.

Envoy and GIA are closely tracking the situation as it progresses. Please reach out in the Communication Center with any questions you may have regarding the cancellation of an appointment and upload any cancellation and/or rescheduling notices to the platform for visibility.

Envoy and GIA are monitoring USCIS announcements and will publish information about any updates as they become available. We will publish the USCIS field offices, asylum offices, and Application Support Centers as they are re-opened.
