Update – TTB's Proposed Labeling Modernization: What Alcoholic Beverage Companies Need To Know

An interdisciplinary team from our Intellectual Property (IP) and Food Law practices discussed a pending proposed rule-making from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the primary federal agency that regulates alcohol beverages.

On 26 November 2018 the TTB proposed modernizing its labeling and advertising regulations with the goal of making the current regulations simpler and clearer for business owners so compliance will be easier for industry members.

The original deadline for public comment was 26 March 2019, but the TTB extended this deadline until 26 June 2019. This extension creates an important opportunity to participate in a major regulatory revision concerning alcohol beverage products.
