John B. Britton and Levi Jones authored the article "Exporting E-Scrap" published in the September 2013 edition of Resource Recycling concerning the export to developing countries of used and end-of-life electronic products. This follows their earlier article published in E-SCRAP News on legal compliance issues with respect to the handling and disposal of these e-products. With the re-introduction in Congress of the Responsible Electronics Recycling Act (RERA), which would ban the export of non-working electronic products, the shipping of reusable or scrap electronic products overseas is again in the spotlight. The authors provide an in-depth look at the landscape facing the patchwork of 26 e-scrap laws around the country and what it means for electronic products recyclers and exporters.

Resource Recycling also published a second article "Legal firm releases comprehensive e-scrap law database" that spotlighted Mr. Britton and Mr. Jones' full database of state electronic recycling laws, aiming to help show how those state and federal legal requirements affect the flow of electronic products for recycling and reuse. The database is a complete directory of all 26 states that have some level of legislation in place governing the handling, recovery and disposal of used and end-of-life electronic products.
