Companies are facing additional pressure for the implementation of strategies to display openness as the demand for transparency rises. General Counsels are now facing new challenges on managing and disclosing information to the government and public as companies seek to prove that they have nothing to hide.

As companies' relationship with consumers becomes more digital in nature, there are certain disclosures they'll need to make, said Mark McCreary, chief privacy officer at Fox Rothschild. "It's not just an IT function. It's really become more of a legal function," he added.
