Army Celebrates 2nd Anniversary Of Its Energy Initiatives Task Force By Spending $7 Billion

On September 9, 2013 the Army awarded $7 billion worth of Multiple Award Task Order Contracts ("MATOC") for wind technology. This leaves only biomass to round out the Army's four-pronged energy MATOC strategy that includes: geothermal, solar, wind and biomass.

Ultimately this is all aimed at more effectively and efficiently fielding renewable energy to meet the DoD's goal of deploying three gigawatts of renewable energy across the military installations.
