Stacey Sprenkel leads Morrison & Foerster's Global Ethics and Compliance practice and is a member of the firm's global anti-corruption team. Stacey regularly assists clients with global risk assessments, conducting anti-corruption and compliance focused due diligence in connection with acquisitions and other transactions, and provides day-to-day counseling on a broad range of compliance issues.

Stacey leads corporate internal investigations spanning a broad range of issues, including bribery, kickbacks, embezzlement, self-dealing, insider trading, accounting fraud, economic espionage, and health care fraud. Stacey advises clients related to these issues in jurisdictions around the globe, including in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Russia, India, and Asia-Pacific. She also represents clients in connection with SEC and DOJ investigations and enforcement proceedings, and in complex commercial litigation involving False Claims Act, civil RICO, and antitrust matters.

Stacey was the head of Morrison & Foerster's San Francisco Litigation Department for five years, and is now the Co-Chair of the firm's Women's Strategy Committee. She is admitted to practice in California.

  1. Stacey inherited her deep passion for veterans' rights from her first MoFo mentor and partner, the late Gordon Erspamer. Today, she is a leading national expert on veterans' access to justice issues.
  2. Stacey has her master's degree in Sociology and Human Rights.  If she had not become a lawyer, she would have become a teacher.
  3. Although she loves being a litigator, Stacey finds that providing clients with proactive compliance counseling is one of the most interesting aspects of her work.
  4. Just five years after being named one of Daily Journal's "Top Five Associates to Watch," recognizing California's emerging legal leaders, Stacey made their "Top 40 Under 40" list.
  5. Stacey's favorite activity is going on hikes with her family.  She loves animals, and her dream for retirement is to make wine and rescue senior dogs.
