Coronavirus Response - Statutory Sick Pay Available From Day One

The UK Government has recently announced measures to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, including the creation of emergency legislation. Under the emergency legislation, Statutory Sick Pay will be available from the first day off sick, rather than the fourth day off.

Giving his reasons for the change, Prime Minister Boris Johnson noted that "no one should be penalised for doing the right thing" when self-isolating.

As a result of this measure, Employers will have to pay an additional three days of Statutory Sick Pay to eligible workers.
