Chief executive of SCVO calls on William Shawcross to resign

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland publishes its annual report

Two key highlights are:

  • 1,306 charities were registered during the year, bringing the total number of charities on the new register of charities to 1,337 by 31 March 2015
  • 116 concerns about charities were received, with the Commission progressing 102 concerns to conclusion by the year end

If self-regulation cannot work the Commission could regulate fundraising

The chair of the Charity Commission, told The Times that should Sir Stuart Etherington's review of fundraising self-regulation find that the current system does not work, the Government would "have to consider" passing that responsibility to the regulator.
