BLG has recently launched its specialist Lender Claims and Mortgage Fraud team to assist clients in dealing with the large increase in lender claims which has begun to hit the market.

The team is spearheaded by Sarah Clover and Andrew Horrocks who led the firm's team which was heavily involved in defending hundreds of claims issued against solicitors and surveyors during the last wave of claims in the 1990s, including the Nationwide managed litigation, on the instruction of the Solicitors' Indemnity Fund.

BLG has extensive experience of defending lender claims against professionals, including solicitors, surveyors, mortgage brokers, IFAs and accountants. The team deals with all types of claim, including residential mortgages and buy to let loans, commercial property lending and claims arising from borrower or valuer fraud. We are expert in related coverage issues, including notification, aggregation, responsive policy year and dishonesty issues.

As well as the legal skills required, the team also has the resource, case management and IT expertise to respond in a flexible and cost effective way to the full range of claims, from multiple high value exposures to smaller one-off claims.
