Smith & Williamson, the investment management and accountancy group, is delighted to announce that Nick Hodgson has been appointed as Head of Marketing for the group.

Nick joined Smith & Williamson in 2008 to lead the marketing and sales of the Investment Management division's pooled funds and discretionary fund management business to the professional financial advisory sector. He has also been involved in a variety of broader marketing projects during this time.

Nick commented: "I am delighted to take on this wider role which comes at a key time for Smith & Williamson. As a firm, we are in a strong and distinctive position with the skills to manage the financial affairs of private clients and their business interests across investment management, tax and the full range of accountancy services.  We plan to increase the profile of Smith & Williamson. Research tells us that there is strong brand equity for those that already know us, but we recognise that there is a wider audience that we need to engage with."

Nick has over 30 years' experience, which includes board-level leadership in brand and communications. He was previously a main board director at Framlington responsible for marketing, and prior to that was a director of Rothschild Asset Management which, under his leadership, launched the Five Arrows funds brand in the UK.

David Cobb, co-chief executive and head of investment management and banking noted: "This is a very important appointment for the firm. We are increasing our investment in marketing, sales and business development across the Group and we are very pleased that Nick has accepted this role as Head of Marketing."

Kevin Stopps, co-chief executive and managing partner for tax and business services added: "We have ambitious plans for the firm over the coming years and this central role has been scoped to support Smith & Williamson during this crucial stage of development. Nick's appointment is definitely good news for Smith & Williamson."

Nick, who is a partner with the firm, is appointed with immediate effect. The vacancy was prompted by the recent retirement of Ann Monks who was with Smith & Williamson for 20 years.
