I am delighted to announce that UK-based partner, Stewart James, has relocated to Canberra to join our Government and Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Australia.

Stewart James has been a member of DLA Piper's UK practice for more than 12 years and a partner for the last six. He specialises in commercial information and communications technology contracts, outsourcing, data privacy and information security. As a key service provider to the UK public sector, Stewart also led the public sector group for the firm's highly successful Leeds office and was the Chair of the Northern Group of the Society for Computers and Law. His primary focus will be in the areas of public sector procurement and technology and sourcing, as well as data security and privacy.

His skills and experience further bolster our strong Canberra-based team, as he joins an experienced team of government-specialist lawyers located across our Australian offices. Stewart will play an important role in the development and expansion of our government business as a key legal services provider on all four categories of the Government's Legal Services Multi-User List.

Stewart's move further underlines Canberra's importance as a centre of excellence within the firm, for information and communications technology, as well as public sector procurement. Our government practice has gone from strength to strength and we continue to have a market leading team, working hard to respond to your needs.

We look forward to introducing Stewart to you in the near future.
