Clayton Utz has confirmed that Brad Wylynko, a partner in its firm was recently appointed as Honorary Consul for Canada in Perth with jurisdiction throughout Western Australia (WA). The appointment was made by the High Commission of Canada in Canberra.

Mr Wylynko succeeds Roger Blake, who has held the position for more than two decades.

Mr Wylynko, a senior Environment & Planning lawyer has lived and worked in Perth since 1999 when he emigrated from Canada.

Mr Wylynko said he was privileged to be appointed to this role.

"I believe the ongoing support for an official representative of Canada in WA is testament to the strength of the relationship between Canada and our State," said Mr Wylynko.

"There are clearly many commercial synergies between Canada and WA across many industries, however, we also share many other commonalities in our histories and links to the Commonwealth, our politics and our people despite the great physical distance between us."

"And, as we continue to welcome increasing numbers of Canadian businesses with interests in WA, I hope to facilitate and strengthen ties with them and other organisations here."
