Ms. Soloff brings to Stroock her deep, well-rounded trust, estate and tax practice for domestic and international clients

New York – Feb. 21, 2018 – Stroock has added a highly accomplished private client services lawyer to its New York office with the arrival of Sharon B. Soloff as a special counsel. She joins from Withers Bergman LLP.

Ms. Soloff brings a diverse practice acting on behalf of individuals and families in domestic and international gift, estate and tax planning, including business succession plans and complex family law agreements. She also advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries on trust and estate matters, and counsels clients in navigating federal estate and gift tax audits.

Ms. Soloff has particular experience in helping wealthy families in the creation and structuring of charitable entities, and in negotiating agreements between individuals and their foundations and public charities.

Anita Rosenbloom, head of Stroock's Private Client Services Group, said, "Following Congress's major revision of America's tax code, there is no shortage of need for smart, sure-handed guidance on how clients should structure their businesses, estates and closely-held interests to maximize the estate and tax planning opportunities resulting from this shift in the law. Sharon Soloff's knowledge and experience in helping individuals and families grapple with complex, ever-changing wealth management-related issues fits well with Stroock's dynamic initiatives in the private clients realm. She makes a terrific addition to our practice at just the right time."

Kevin Matz, a partner in Stroock's Private Client Services Group, added, "I have worked extensively with Sharon in leadership roles in the New York State Trusts and Estates Bar, and adding Sharon to our team at this critical juncture allows us to even further intensify the tremendous estate and tax planning services that we provide to our clients."

She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, cum laude, and Order of the Coif; her B.A. from Harvard University, cum laude; and an M.S.W. from New York University. Ms. Soloff is a vice-chair of the Tax Committee of Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Ms. Soloff said, "Not only does Stroock boast a top-tier private wealth practice, but the firm is able to draw on recognized practitioners and innovators across a range of related areas, such as executive compensation, real estate tax, private funds and asset management, tax controversy and litigation. The change in the tax code is obviously stirring many questions among my clients and I'm pleased to join with a high level private practice to better address client needs and to help further expand the firm's reach."

Stroock's Private Client Services Group advises clients on estate planning and related tax work, including estate administration, succession planning for family businesses and charitable giving. Many of the firm's private client relationships have spanned generations. Members of the group have served as longtime co-authors of Manning on Estate Planning, a leading treatise used by private wealth advisers nationally, and are nationally recognized leaders and advocates in the Trust and Estate Bar.
