Wolf Popper represents United States Public Interest Research Group in this action in the District of Columbia against GE Appliances for failing to warn consumers of that their gas stoves emit harmful levels of nitrogen dioxide when the stoves are used normally. The suit asks a D.C. court to require GE Appliances to put nitrogen dioxide warnings on gas stoves sold in the District of Columbia. On November 20, 2024, the Court denied GE Appliances' motion to dismiss. Delivering an opinion from the bench, the Court found that USPIRG's Complaint sufficiently alleges that GE Appliances violated D.C.'s Consumer Protection Procedures Act by not disclosing to consumers that emissions from their gas stoves are harmful to human health.
