We advised GLAS as the security trustee on Oaktree's acquisition of the Italian football club after Inter Milan's former majority owner failed to repay a loan in the amount of €395 million.
Lawyers from our London office advised alongside US law firm, Sidley Austin, with a Walkers team in the Cayman Islands acting for Alex Lawson and Chris Kennedy of Alvarez & Marsal as receivers.
Jennifer Maughan, an Insolvency and Dispute Resolution partner at Walkers in London, commented:
"We are delighted to have advised the security trustee on this matter. Our ability to lead separate teams, working across different time zones ensured the various stakeholders received thorough cross-border advice and support, accounting for the intricacies of this transaction."
Our London team was led by partners Jennifer Maughan, Jan Golaszewski and Neil McDonald supported by senior counsel, James Denham, and senior associates, Tom Esler and Daniel Hayward-Hughes. Our Cayman Islands team acting for the receivers was led by partner, Neil Lupton, supported by senior counsel, Siobhan Sheridan.
