The Valley, Anguilla, BWI – The Anguilla Financial Services Association (AFSA) has named Odell McCants, Jr., as Executive Director. Mr. McCants will be leading AFSA’s marketing and promotions programmes. Ms. Pam Webster, a partner with the Anguillian based law firm Webster Dyrud Mitchell, and AFSA’s president says, "The hiring of an Executive Director was the next step in the evolution of AFSA as an organization, and Odell is a perfect fit. He possesses experience working with professional services firms, and most importantly, has a strong passion for Anguilla and its development." Prior to joining AFSA, Mr. McCants was a consultant with BearingPoint, Inc., formerly KPMG Consulting.

Mr. McCants’ first order of business will be to organize the Anguilla Financial Services Strategy Council, comprised of senior Anguillian government officials and private sector leaders. The Strategy Council will provide industry and government leadership to the crafting of a cohesive plan for marketing Anguilla as a financial services centre. Says Mr. McCants, "In the past, there has been little coordination of marketing efforts between government and the private sector. The Strategy Council will allow both parties to come together to develop a common marketing plan that will include the goals and objectives of both government and the private sector."

AFSA’s marketing efforts will focus on expanding Anguilla’s presence in the company registration and trust markets, while establishing name recognition in the captive insurance and mutual fund markets. Ms. Webster adds, "Anguilla has established itself as a market leader in the area of company registration with ACORN (Anguilla Commercial Online Registration Network), the world’s first and only online and instant company registration system. Recently passed legislation has expanded Anguilla’s captive insurance and mutual fund capabilities, and AFSA and the Government of Anguilla now seek to establish ourselves in these respective markets."

The Anguilla Financial Services Association (AFSA) is comprised of legal and accounting firms, trust and insurance companies, company managers, commercial banks, and stock brokerage service providers. AFSA promotes Anguilla as a financial services centre, and represents the financial services industry on issues before the Government of Anguilla.
