Jenner & Block's Investigations, Compliance, and Defense Practice has been involved in some of the highest profile matters this year. Co-Managing Partner Katya Jestin was appointed the independent compliance monitor for Glencore Ltd. following its well-publicized market conduct guilty plea. Partner Shoba Pillay was appointed examiner to investigate and report on cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius Network's accounts, tokens, and representations after the company filed for bankruptcy and faced allegations of operating as a Ponzi scheme. The firm also conducted a high-profile culture review of a Division 1 athletic team following hazing allegations and in recent years investigated the fatal shooting on the set of the movie "Rust" and the Chicago Blackhawks' handling of allegations of sexual misconduct by a former coach.
