Chapman Tripp is pursuing the right for directors to maintain privacy over their home address within the proposed Director Identification Number (DIN) regime.

In our recent submission, we argue for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment's Option 2, which would allow an address for service to be provided instead.

Our strong view is that the DIN will provide a robust form of identity verification, reducing the need for other verifiers and that the protection offered by non-disclosure of residential information, especially where personal safety may be at risk, outweighs any competing considerations.
