Chapman Tripp and the Institute of Directors (IoD) have updated the governance code comparison table we produced last year to reflect the recent rewrite of the NZX Corporate Governance Code.
We intend this as a tool to help directors, managers and investors identify the key similarities and differences between the codes produced by the NZX, the IOD, the Financial Markets Authority, the New Zealand Corporate Governance Forum and ASX (as an external comparator).
As noted in the introduction to the table, good governance practice expects reporting that goes beyond "tick box compliance". As such, directors should carefully consider which aspects of the five codes outlined are most relevant to their organisation, rather than viewing the table as a comprehensive checklist of requirements that must be met in its entirety to achieve good governance practice.
