As "smart" technologies become increasingly integrated into our lives, the EU is taking its first steps to alert businesses and customers to the privacy and data protection risks which arise from the use of such technologies. To this end, the Article 29 Working Party on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data (the "WP29") has released an Opinion on the Internet of Things ("IoT") and how the IoT should interact with the data protection legal framework.
