Poland's first DTT multiplex will contain three public TV channels and four commercial channels – TVN, Polsat, TV4 and TV Plus.

The announcement was made by the President of the Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) and invites the broadcasters of the four commercial channels to apply to extend their analogue broadcasting licences to include digital broadcasting. The applications must be submitted by 14 April 2009.

The DTT services would first be made available this September in Warsaw, Zielona Gora, Poznan and Zagan. The analogue broadcasting of the seven channels will continue in some parts of Poland until August 2013.

The second multiplex will also carry seven channels, three of which will be chosen by KRRiT in a competition, one will be a local service, and three will be selected by the operator of the multiplex. The operator will be chosen in a tender organised by the Office of Electronic Communications, which is due to be announced within the next month.
