Below are key recommendations and steps to follow before and during your trip:

Before You Travel:

1. Document Preparation:

  • Keep an electronic copy of your passport, identity card, travel insurance, and debit/credit cards. This is vital in case of loss or theft.
  • Ensure your passport's validity extends at least six months beyond the end of your journey.

2. Legal Awareness:

  • Be aware of severe penalties for drug possession, which can range from heavy fines to long imprisonment or even the death penalty in some countries.
  • Understand the laws of your destination and respect them. Providing false information to local authorities or breaking the law can lead to serious consequences, including limited intervention by Cypriot authorities.

3. Travel Advice:

  • Check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' travel advice before your trip. Visit Travel Advice for updated information on risks and safety measures in different countries.

4. Registration:

  • Register on the online platform «connect2cy» (Register Here). This allows the Crisis Management Department to contact you in emergencies or crisis situations.

5. Visa Requirements:

  • Verify with the authorities of your destination country whether a visa is required for your visit.

During Your Trip:

1. Handling Emergencies:

  • In case of loss or theft of personal belongings, report immediately to the local Police and keep a copy of the Police report.
  • If you experience an emergency in the EU or EEA, call the free emergency number 112 or contact the nearest Cypriot Diplomatic Mission. For additional support, reach out to the Crisis Management Department at +357 22 80 1000 or email cycc@mfa.gov.cy.

2. Assistance in Third Countries:

  • If you need consular assistance in a non-EU/EEA country where Cyprus has no diplomatic mission, you can request help from the Diplomatic Mission of another EU Member State.
  • Contact the Crisis Management Department for support at +357 22 80 1000 or email cycc@mfa.gov.cy.
o If a Cypriot Diplomatic Mission exists in the third country, communicate with them in case of emergencies or danger.

Best Practices:

  • Do Not Transport Unknown Goods: Avoid carrying items belonging to other people to prevent legal complications.
  • Respect Local Laws: Obey and respect the regulations of the country you are visiting to avoid severe legal consequences.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus is dedicated to monitoring international developments and issuing relevant travel advisories to protect Cypriot citizens. Stay informed and prepared to ensure a safe and pleasant journey.
