Electronic Arts (EA) has made a splash in the social gaming marketplace once again. After acquiring social game developer Playfish in 2009, EA announced on July 12, 2011 that it is in the process of adding PopCap Games - responsible for Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled, among other notable titles - to its stable. The $750M US cash/shares transaction (along with a possible $550M US earn-out) is slated to close in August 2011. PopCap Games has this to say about the transaction.
