The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is a provincial economic immigration initiative that nominates individuals for permanent residence in Alberta. The program is administered jointly by the Alberta provincial government and the Canadian federal government.
On Aug. 7, 2024, AAIP announced the launch of a new Expression of Interest (EOI) system, set to begin on Sept. 30, 2024.
Under this new system, once candidates submit their EOI, they will be entered into a selection pool. AAIP will then invite candidates to apply based on their ranking within the pool, aligned with provincial labour market needs and priorities.
Due to the introduction of this system, AAIP will discontinue the remaining monthly application acceptance dates for 2024. The new system will support a continuous intake of EOIs moving forward.
The prior monthly application system proved challenging for many applicants given excess demand or intake.
