As previously discussed, as of October 29 Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000 (the ESA) will be amended to include "family caregiver," "critically ill child care," and "crime-related child death and disappearance" leaves of absence. These new leaves will be in addition to the leaves of absence already mandated under the ESA, including "family medical leave."

For an overview of these new leave entitlements, please click the above link for our original blog article outlining the same.  The official legislative text concerning such leaves can be found here.

The content of this article is intended to provide a general guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought about your specific circumstances.
