Securities class actions in Canada are on the rise and, with that, carriage motions (which determine which plaintiff class action law firm will guide the litigation) are becoming more common.   On January 6, 2012 Justice Perell decided between four competing law firms and awarded carriage of the proposed action in Smith v. Sino-Forest Corporation to Koskie Minsky LLP and Siskinds, who will act together.   The Windsor Star reports that on Friday, January 20, 2012 the law firm Sutts, Strosberg LLP was awarded carriage of the proposed action against Armtec Infrastructure Inc.
