During a press conference held on the 10th June 2020 the Prime Minister of Malta Robert Abela, together with Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg announced new initiative to launch the aircraft leasing sector in Malta.

Malta has been a long-standing reputable jurisdiction for the registration of aircraft. This initiative will nurture the existing aviation hub and continue to build on the aviation cluster in Malta.

The aviation sector in Malta has encountered significant growth over the past decade with the Maltese aircraft register listing over 477 aircraft and the number of AOC holders approaching 40.

KPMG Malta will continue to follow up on these updates.
