The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) recently announced that it will permit the operation of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on the Bermuda Aircraft Registry. It also will allow flights of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Bermuda.

In March 2019, the BCAA temporarily suspended the operation of all variants of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into and out of Bermuda airspace.

Director General of the BCAA, Thomas Dunstan, stated this week: "The decision was made to revoke the suspensions to the operation of the Boeing 737 MAX, following approved safety modifications inclusive of the aircraft's design, how it is flown and training required for pilots to fly it. One of the main safety features that has been modified is the Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System."

The change came into effect on 1 February 2021 and follows similar decisions made by US Federal Aviation Administration, the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Transport Canada and the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency.
