Harmonised Workplace Health and Safety laws pass Queensland Parliament

The Work Health and Safety Bill 2011 passed through the Queensland Parliament yesterday. The Bill, once enacted and commenced, will bring into force in Queensland harmonised national workplace health and safety laws.

The Work Health and Safety Bill 2011 passed through the Queensland Parliament yesterday. The Bill, once enacted and commenced, will bring into force in Queensland harmonised national workplace health and safety laws. The harmonisation of national workplace health and safety laws has been a three-year project for all governments in Australia and Queensland is the first state in the nation to pass the harmonised legislation.

The new laws are expected to come into force from 1 January 2012.
