The Canadian international business sector is invited to learn more about Barbados' vibrant international financial centre and its value proposition when Invest Barbados hosts its annual International Business Seminar at the Toronto Marriott, Downtown Eaton Centre, Toronto, Canada on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

With this year's theme titled: "Supporting Business of Substance", the aim of the seminar is to familiarise new attendees, as well as reinforce to Canadian investors and business stakeholders the benefits that can be derived from doing business in or through Barbados, and the sound regulatory and legislative environment for which the jurisdiction is known.

Barbados and Canada have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship for many years, with the two countries celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations this year.  A Double Taxation Agreement has also been in force between the two countries since 1980, and a Bilateral Investment Treaty since 1997. Currently, Barbados ranks third behind the US and UK for foreign direct investment flows from the Canadian market.

During the seminar, Barbados' Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, the Honourable Donville Inniss, will address the audience on the topic: 'Welcoming International Business to Barbados'.

A number of experts in the sector are also expected to present on varying topics, including Ms. Alison Manzer, Partner, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP; Mr. Ben Arrindell, Director, Cidel Financial Group; Mr. Marlon Yarde, Managing Director, Barbados Stock Exchange and Professor Avinash Persaud, Chairman, Intelligence Capital Limited.
