The annual Climbing Wall Association ("CWA") Summit in Loveland, Colorado, kicks off the week of May 14, 2018, with pre-conferences leading up to the premier trade show for the indoor climbing industry on May 17-18th. This show will unlock endless opportunities for indoor rock climbing gyms, product manufacturers, recreation centers and other industry players to gain information, insight and innovative ways to incorporate new ideas into their respective businesses. This is the time to be involved in the indoor rock climbing and recreational industry.

The sport of climbing has exploded in the last few years, stimulated by the announcement that rock climbing will be included in the 2020 Olympics. With this news, new gyms have been built at an incredible pace. Nearly 50 commercial gyms opened in 23 states in 2017—an almost 10 percent growth rate. Because of their relative simplicity and space consciousness, bouldering-only gyms in urban areas sprung up in 2017 and have continued to do so into 2018. No doubt, 2018 appears to be another year of continued growth and ambition for the industry.

Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP is proud to participate in the CWA Summit. This year, attorney Marla Hudgens, a member of our Sports & Outdoor Recreation group, will be in attendance. Marla knows the beta and speaks the language of outdoor recreation and climbing. She has been an active participant in the industry since her childhood. In addition, with offices located throughout the western United States, dozens of our attorneys are ready to help your company with brand development and protection, supply chain contracts and dispute resolution, impacts of recent tax legislation on imports of foreign materials and goods, and much more.

See you at the CWA Summit!
