Butler Snow attorneys Tommie S. Cardin and B. Parker Berry co-authored an article in The Mississippi Lawyer titled “Fundamentals of Redistricting.”

Article I, § 2 of the United States Constitution mandates a nationwide census every decade. One of the main purposes of the census is to determine the apportionment of congressional districts among the states.

Equally important is providing state and local governments population counts for redrawing election districts to maintain compliance with constitutional and statutory requirement.
