With 2015 being a non-federal election year, in which most PACs choose to change their filing frequency to either semi-annual or quarterly, it is important to keep an eye on how special elections that crop up could trigger special filing dates. This is important should your PAC makes a contribution toward a special primary, special general election and/or special run-off. So far this year, three special elections have been scheduled for various reasons. Below are the dates of each election and their corresponding filing dates.

Illinois 18th Congressional District

(seat vacated due to the resignation of Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL)

Special Primary: July 7, 2015
Special General: September 10, 2015

Filing Date

Pre-Primary Report, accounting for all activity between 4/1/15 – 6/17/15 is due: June 25, 2015

July Quarterly Report, accounting for all activity between 6/18/15 – 6/30/15 is due: July 15, 2015

Pre-General Report, accounting for all activity between 7/1/15 – 8/21/15 is due: August 29, 2015

Post-General Report, accounting for all activity between 8/22/15 – 9/30/15 is due: October 10, 2015

October Quarterly Report is Waived.

Mississippi 1st Congressional District

(seat vacated due to the death of Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R-MS)

Special General: May 12, 2015
Special Runoff: June 2, 2015

Filing Dates

Pre-General Report, accounting for all activity between 4/1/15 – 4/22/15 is due: April 30, 2015

Post-General Report, accounting for all activity between 4/23/15 – 6/1/15 is due: June 11, 2015

July Quarterly Report, accounting for all activity between 6/2/15 – 6/30/15 is due: July 15, 2015

Pre-General Report, accounting for all activity between 4/1/15 – 4/22/15 is due: April 30, 2015

Pre-Runoff Report, accounting for all activity between 4/23/15 – 5/13/15 is due: May 21, 2015

Post-Runoff Report, accounting for all activity between 5/14/15 – 6/22/15 is due: July 2, 2015

July Quarterly Report, accounting for all activity between 6/23/15 – 6/30/15 is due: July 15, 2015

New York 11th Congressional District

(seat vacated due to the resignation of Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY)

Special General: May 5, 2015

Filing Dates

Pre-General Report, accounting for all activity between 1/1/15 – 4/15/15 is due: April 23, 2015

Post-General Report, accounting for all activity between 4/16/15 – 5/25/15 is due: June 4, 2015

July Quarterly Report, accounting for all activity between 5/26/15 – 6/30/15 is due: July 15, 2015
